There’s Gaga, Oprah, Bieber and Brangelina (two separate spots). And then there’s Glenn Beck on this year’s Forbes list of the most powerful celebrities, which factors in earnings and media buzz — traditional and social. Beck and his $40 million haul, is at #30.
Already a big name in conservative talk radio and a bestselling author, Beck’s visibility skyrocketed in 2009 when he leapt from HLN to Fox News Channel, where he instantly became the network’s top-rated host outside of prime time. With his Fox contract expiring, Beck appears to think he can become bigger still by striking out on his own. His successful forays so far into web publishing, e-commerce and live concerts offer some support for that view.
