GLAAD Media Awards Recognize Newsers

The GLAAD Media Award nominees were announced today and several prominent TV Newsers made the cut.  The awards honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives.

Michael Sam’s appearance on OWN’s “Oprah Prime,” Robin Robert’s appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and Laverne Cox discussing “The T Word” on “The View” all pick up nominations for Outstanding Talk Show Episode.

The Outstanding TV Journalism – Newsmagazine category features episodes of “America Tonight” on Al Jazeera America, “This is Life with Lisa Ling” on CNN and a pair of MSNBC shows – “Morning Joe” and “Ronan Farrow Daily” pick up nominations.

Outstanding TV Journalism Segment nominations go to “MSNBC Live,” “Melissa Harris-Perry” on MSNBC, Anderson Cooper 360 on CNN, Fusion’s “Alicia Menendez Tonight” and ABC’s “This Week.”

NBCNews.com, MSNBC.com, News.Vice.com and Fusion.net were nominated for the Outstanding Digital Journalism – Multimedia award.
