Gibson Staying in NY This Week

By SteveK

ABC News is revising its plan to have Charlie Gibson anchor World News from seven different cities beginning tomorrow as part of the ABC News/USA Today “50 States in 50 Days” initiative.

Gibson apologizes to Orlando and Valdosta, GA — the two cities he won’t be traveling to — on his blog today. “Because of the financial crisis that has consumed Washington and Wall Street, and the entire country, we have had to cancel the first leg of the trip that would have had us broadcasting from Orlando Thursday night and Valdosta on Friday,” he writes. “We will go ahead with the four state Midwestern trip next week. But the vote in the Senate tonight on the financial relief package and the likelihood that the bill will come up for a House vote Thursday or Friday requires us to stay in New York.”

This also means that, just as for Friday’s debate, Gibson will anchor tomorrow’ VP debate from New York.
