Geraldo: Family, Fox News Made Me Take Down Selfie

By Alex Weprin

Why did Fox News anchor Geraldo Rivera take down his now-infamous “selfie,” a photo of himself half-naked standing in front of a mirror? In an interview with New York City DJs Scott & Todd on 95.5 WPLJ, Rivera says that it was a text from his daughter followed by a phone call from Fox News that spurred that decision.

“I woke up and it was 18 year old, was the first I heard from about it, and she wrote in all caps ‘TAKE THAT THING DOWN RIGHT NOW,'” Rivera recalled. “I took it down the next day after I heard from Fox. I just heard from Fox to take it down, I haven’t heard the next sentence yet.”

As for why he posted it in the first place? Rivera said tequila was to blame.
