The summer concerts on the network morning shows kick off this week with two of the biggest acts around going head-to-head this Friday: Lady Gaga on “Good Morning America” and Rihanna on “Today.” Yes, this summer you’ll have the chance to see Gaga, Go-Go’s and Goo Goo Dolls all while sitting in your living room.
The “Today” Summer Concert Series, now in its 16th year, will be held on the plaza at Rockefeller Center every Friday this summer. GMA’s concert series returns for its third year at the Rumsey Playfield in Central Park also on Fridays. Most concerts begin at 8:30am. “Today” has the benefit of the 9am and 10am hours for extra material from the artists.
The biggest draw of the summer could be Friday’s Lady Gaga concert which coincides with the release of her new album. “Good Morning America” has been promoting the show for almost two weeks. It took just 12 minutes for the 7,000 free tickets to sell out.
