Fusion’s ‘Sports Talkers’ an ‘Outrageous Half Hour’ of ‘Sports Talk Mayhem’

By Merrill Knox

Fusion has announced details about “Sports Talkers,” its nightly sports comedy program. The network describes the show as “an outrageous half-hour … hosted in a tricked-out suburban basement” that will include elements of late-night comedy, talk radio, and improv performance.

“Sports Talkers” will be hosted by Rebecca Delgado Smith, Adam Lustick, and Billy Scafuri, three members of the acclaimed comedy troupe Harvard Sailing Team.

Fusion is set to be a blend of hard news and programming intended to hook younger viewers, including the one-hour nightly satire block that includes “Sports Talkers.” Fusion CEO Isaac Lee tells Variety its “a different type of network than what people are expecting.”

“This is a permanent lab for us,” Lee said. “We don’t pretend to be getting it right on day one, but we do know that we are going to be taking risks and doing things that have never been done before.”
