Fusion Plans Special Night For #WorldOceansDay

By Brian Flood

In honor of #WorldOceansDayFusion will air a special night of programming tonight that includes the documentary Extinction Soup at 9:30 p.m. ET and Shark Land at 10:30 p.m. ET, reported by Fusion environmental correspondent Nicolas Ibarguen.

“The fact is that people and the planet are connected. With the expedition to Cocos Island our goal was to show the world why our planet needs sharks, which are misunderstood and misrepresented by the media. We kill nearly 100 million sharks a year,” Ibarguen told TVNewser.

Ibarguen went on to say, “Our own survival depends on the health of the oceans and sharks are essential to keep them that way, safe for us. So the bottom line is, it is about our own survival. And if we don’t take action, they will become extinct in the coming decades. It is up to us all to create a thriving, livable planet for ourselves and future generations — and it starts with becoming more informed.”
