Fusion Deems Bieber Arrest ‘Insignificant Breaking News’

By Merrill Knox

fusion bieberIf you’ve been watching cable news today, you know that Justin Bieber was arrested for DUI last night in Miami Beach. The cable news networks have correspondents reporting live from Miami — Phil Keating for Fox News, Tory Dunnan for CNN and Mark Potter for MSNBC — and all took Bieber’s court appearance live.

One cable news network, however, has a different take on the latest Bieber drama: on its morning show today, Fusion called the story “insignificant breaking news.” (It’s worth noting that despite the catchy tagline, Fusion has reported on the arrest at least three times today.)

The network poked fun at its competitors with a shot of the Miami Police Department described as “sorta live pictures of nothing happening.” Fusion is coincidentally located in Doral, which is where Bieber was taken to jail.

Fusion’s approach has a fan in Dan Rather, who praised the network for its “refreshing candor.” Watch Fusion’s report on the arrest after the jump.
