Jon Friedman hasn’t totally warmed up to Brian Williams yet, at least on TV. “I begin to lose interest as soon as Williams sounds stuffy or slick” on the NBC Nightly News, he says. “I much prefer the informal, glib, irreverent incarnation of Williams,” on display at the Overseas Press Club dinner last week.
“I liked Williams best when he conveyed his witty observations and didn’t resort to delivering canned-sounding platitudes. He communicated his mild displeasure with the slow-footed proceedings when he pointed out that the waiters would soon be serving the audience breakfast.” More…
