Some ratings notes from yesterday: Fox News was the most-watched cable news channel during President Obama’s two-hour press conference, while CNN’s “The Sixties” won its timeslot in the A25-54 demographic.
For the press conference, Fox News had 1,959,000 total viewers and 391,000 A25-54 viewers from 11am-1pmET. CNN was second with 544,000 total viewers and 113,000 demo viewers, and MSNBC was third with 453,000 and 113,000, respectively. All three networks peaked in the 12pmET hour when Obama was delivering his remarks.
Fox News also had a strong night in primetime, averaging 2,793,000 total viewers and 509,000 A25-54 viewers. Both “The O’Reilly Factor” and “The Kelly File” had more than 500,000 viewers in the A25-54 demo. (See the full scoreboard here.)
As for “The Sixties,” CNN’s original programming continues to perform for the network. From 9-11pmET last night, the documentary averaged 508,000 viewers, topping both Fox News and MSNBC in the demo. For the same two-hour period, Fox averaged 487,000 viewers and MSNBC had 181,000 viewers in the demo. “The Sixties” drew a higher number of A25-54 viewers than the debut of last month’s “Blackfish.”
