Fox News Tops All Cablers in Ratings for Tiger Woods Apology

More than 6.5 million viewers tuned in to watch Tiger Woods’ apology on the cable networks Friday morning — most on Fox News Channel. With the statement running from 11-11:15amET, FNC had 2.073M Total Viewers to ESPN’s 1.71M.

With post-statement analysis, from 11-11:30amET, Fox News averaged 1.874M Total Viewers topping ESPN (1.55M), CNN (911K), The Golf Channel (706K), HLN (496K), CNBC (469K) and MSNBC (436K).

In younger viewers, ESPN came out on top. From 11-11:30 the sports net drew 683K A25-54 viewers to FNC’s 516K. CNN drew 199K, HLN and GOLF tied with 184K CNBC drew 119K and MSNBC had 79K.

And from 11am-NoonET, Fox News was #2 in all of cable behind only Nickelodeon (which obviously did not carry Woods).

Comcast-owned The Golf Channel got the biggest boost. The network was up +1861% over their year-to-date average in Total Viewers and up +1573% in A25-54 viewers.
