July 2017 Ratings: Fox News No. 1 Cable Network for 13 Months

Fox News ranked No. 1 across cable in total day viewers for the 13th straight month, per Nielsen. Additionally, FNC was No. 1 in the month of July in total prime time viewers, and has now defeated rivals CNN and MSNBC in total prime time viewers for 187 straight months.

FNC finished runner up to MSNBC in the weekday prime time demo, but finished ahead of MSNBC if one takes the total calendar week into consideration. Fox News airs original programming during Saturday and Sunday prime, while MSNBC airs re-runs.

Fox News posted audience declines from last July, a month which included the Republican National Convention and breaking news of terrorist attacks in Nice and the police officer shooting Dallas. The network was -25 percent in total prime time viewers, -16 percent in total day viewers, -27 percent in the prime time demo and -11 percent in the total day demo versus July 2016.

The ratings for July 2017:

  • Prime time (Mon-Sun):  2,116,000 Total Viewers /   407,000 A25-54
  • Total Day (Mon-Sun):   1,320,000 Total Viewers /   279,000 A25-54

Fox News had the No. 2 (Tucker Carlson Tonight), No. 3 (Hannity) and No. 4 The Five) shows in total prime time viewers this past month. Among adults 25-54, FNC had the No.3 (Hannity), No. 4 (Tucker Carlson) and No. 5 (The Five).

Fox and Friends, Pres. Trump’s show du jour, is on pace to have its highest-rated year in network history.
