Fox News No. 1 for 50 Quarters

By Chris Ariens

When the final Q2 2014 ratings come out tomorrow, Fox News will mark a milestone, one that has only been matched by ESPN in the cable TV universe. Fox News will mark 50 Quarters — or 12 and a half years — as the No. 1 cable news channel in total viewers in both total day and primetime. ESPN has done that in the sports category, which until recently, it had to itself.

Two of FNC’s shows, “Fox & Friends” and “Your World with Neil Cavuto” are also marking 50 quarters at No. 1. (Other shows like “O’Reilly Factor” and “On the Record” have even longer streaks). Thanks to Bloomberg BusinessWeek, we can share this graph of the quarter-to-quarter performances of FNC, CNN, MSNBC and HLN, going back to 2001.

We’ll have the full Q2 2014 cable news ratings highlights tomorrow.
