Michelle Fields has appeared on the Fox News weekend show Cashin’ In for the last couple of years, joining a panel of three other guests, moderated by Eric Bolling.
But Fields has been prominently in the news for the last 10 days after accusing Donald Trump‘s campaign manager of yanking her arm, leaving it bruised, as Fields tried to ask Trump a question following the GOP debate March 8.
Until earlier this week, Fields was covering the campaign for Breitbart News. She resigned Monday because, as she stated later, “I do not believe Breitbart News has adequately stood by me during the events of the past week.”
But she’s still a part of Cashin’ In. Just not this week.
The Daily Beast reports Fields “received a phone call from Bolling’s producer informing her that she will no longer appear on Cashin’ In. Fields was told that she’s off the show because she is no longer ‘impartial’ to Trump and therefore cannot speak objectively on his candidacy.”
“There was never any discussion or directive to remove Michelle Fields from the program and certainly not by Eric Bolling,” a Fox News rep tells TVNewser. Instead, the show’s senior producer, John Huber says he decided “to take it week by week.”
Huber, who’s been with Fox News for 15 years and has overseen the 2-hour Saturday business block for the last six years, tells TVNewser he talked with Fields Wednesday.
“I reached out to her to see how she was feeling, and how all this would impact her on the show,” Huber says. “Since we were talking about candidates in segments, Trump would come up so obviously she would have to comment on it. She felt, with everybody twisting her words, she would like to lay low for a while, and we both agreed that for her personally it was good. And for me personally, as the senior (producer), to take it week by week.”
Fields was a paid Fox News contributor until last year, and has continued to appear on Cashin’ In every Saturday. The show hasn’t been on since Feb. 13, due to primary coverage.
As for next week, Huber says, “I plan on contacting her to see how she feels and have all intents and purposes of having her back on the show.” During tomorrow’s episode, which was being taped as we spoke, Bolling acknowledges Fields’ absence telling viewers he looks forward to having her back.
