Fox News Discrimination Suit Dismissed

By Alex Weprin

A civil suit filed by the EEOC on behalf of Fox News correspondent Catherine Herridge claiming discrimination by her employer was thrown out today. Herridge lodged a complaint in 2007 alleging that she was discriminated against because of her age and gender. Last year the EEOC took up her case, and sued FNC, as we noted at the time.

Today, as FishbowlDC’s Matt Dornic writes, the case was thrown out by a federal judge:

“If you wish to have a serious negotiation…I suggest that you and Herridge become more realistic,” wrote Judge Leon in a summary document, highlighting the wild 95% salary increase request.  “After close examination of this record, I also conclude that no juror could find that Herridge’s alleged harms would constitute materially adverse action in the mind of a reasonable employee,” said Leon.
