A judge in Westchester County, New York acquitted Fox News correspondent Douglas Kennedy of child endangerment and harassment charges today. On January 7, Kennedy was involved in a confrontation with two maternity ward nurses who tried to stop him from leaving with his newborn son.
In closed circuit video first aired on WNBC-TV in February, two nurses physically tried to block Kennedy from taking the child outside for some fresh air, which led to a confrontation in which Kennedy lost his balance and fell, according to the town judge’s 10-page ruling. The case was heard without a jury.
Kennedy and his wife Molly released a statement following the verdict, thanking, among others, his Fox News boss.
“We want to thank our family, our friends and our neighbors in Pleasantville who supported us from the very beginning. We also want to thank Roger and Beth Ailes who took us into their home during a difficult time and who immediately knew the allegations were totally without merit.
We have always believed that it is okay for a father to hold his son and it is never okay for anyone to try to grab a baby from any parent’s arms.”
