Fox News Bumped Off Top 10 List of Best Perceived Brands by Republicans

By Chris Ariens

Fox News Channel has been replaced by a soap on an annual list of brand preferences.

Fox News topped the 2012 YouGov BrandIndex ranking of best perceived brands by Republicans. This year, Fox News is at No. 11. Dove came in at No. 10.

The first place spot on the GOP list is Craftsman, which is No. 3 for Democrats. Two other brands that fell out of the top 10 Republican list are Chick-Fil-A and the Discovery Channel.

While there is some political crossover of brand awareness — for example Cheerios, Amazon.com, Johnson & Johnson and Home Depot are on both the GOP and Democrat list — some big brands only make one Top 10 ranking. Google, which ranked No. 1 by Democrats, is not among the Republican Top 10. Welch’s, No. 8 for the GOP, does not make the Democrat Top 10.

Another: PBS is ranked No. 7 by Democrats, but does not make the GOP Top 10.
