Fox News Announces GOP Convention Coverage Plans

By A.J. Katz

Fox News will present live coverage of the RNC from Cleveland beginning today. The network returns to Quicken Loans Arena for the festivities, a venue where the network made history last August with its record-breaking telecast of the first GOP debate, now the most-watched non-sports telecast in cable history.

Bret Baier and Megyn Kelly will co-anchor prime time editions of America’s Elections Headquarters live from Quicken Loans starting Monday, July 18 through Thursday, July 21.

Baier and Kelly will be joined by a rotating team of commentators and hosts including Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace, senior political analyst Brit Hume, political analyst Juan Williams and former White House press secretary Dana Perino. Analysis will also be provided by former White House senior adviser and FNC contributor Karl Rove, Democratic strategist and FNC contributor Joe Trippi, and FNC contributor Stephen Hayes. Additionally, America’s Newsroom co-anchors Bill Hemmer and Martha MacCallum along with chief political correspondent Carl Cameron will lead coverage from the convention floor.

Other FNC correspondents on the scene include senior national correspondent John Roberts, chief congressional correspondent Mike Emanuel and chief Washington correspondent James Rosen. Steve Harrigan and Mike Tobin will report on the latest security and protest situations in and around Cleveland with additional convention and delegate reporting provided by Rich Edson, Shannon Bream and Peter Doocy.

Similar to its broadcast competition, FOX will dedicate an hour of its prime time block to live coverage of the convention from Monday – Thursday (10 – 11 p.m. ET). Shepard Smith will anchor the festivities for FOX.

Fox News’ traditional Monday – Thursday programming schedule will stay intact, with the exception being Baier and Kelly hosting AEHQ at 10 p.m. and Hannity on from 11 p.m. – 1 a.m. ET.

Bill O’Reilly will host The O’Reilly Factor live from New York on Monday and Tuesday, and live from Cleveland on Wednesday and Thursday in the usual 8 p.m. slot. Greta Van Susteren will host On The Record live from Cleveland in its usual 7 p.m. slot.
