Mark Sanford, the former South Carolina governor, who survived calls for impeachment in 2009 after it was revealed he was having an affair with an Argentinean woman, has been named a political analyst for Fox News.
The New York Times Caucus blog reports, “While [Sanford] is certain to appear prominently at the debate Fox News is holding in South Carolina in January, he will appear well before that and will stay on with Fox even beyond the general election.”
Sanford, a Republican, was ultimately censured after his affair with Argentinean journalist Maria Belén Chapur was revealed. Sanford’s wife, Jenny Sanford, told her story to Barbara Walters last year, coinciding with the publication of her memoir.
Sanford left office in January, when his term expired. Later that month he was spotted with Belén Chapur in the resort town of Punta del Este, Uruguay.
