Kevin Sites, a former correspondent and freelancer for NBC, CNN and ABC, is becoming a reporter for Yahoo News, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Beginning Sept. 26, Sites will be “filing video, audio and text dispatches to Yahoo News each day and hold live chat and videoconferencing sessions from the world’s most brutal conflicts.” The program will be called “Kevin Sites in the Hot Zone.”

Sites has hired an NBC News producer to help him along the way. He “plans to travel solo, armed with a nearly 40-pound sack filled with cameras, a notebook computer, satellite phones and other gadgets.” More…

> Several TV nets have expressed interest compiling footage from Sites’ travels into a weekly show, but a deal hasn’t been reached yet…
