CNN’s chief business correspondent Ali Velshi is profiled by his hometown Toronto Star. Revealed in the profile are some past Velshi internships — “at CNN’s Crossfire and in the Paris bureau of 60 Minutes.”
Most of the quotes come from those who know and have worked with Velshi. Pat Kiernan, now anchor at NY1, describes working with Velshi on CNNfn’s “The Money Gang” in 2004. “He was the one they wanted to keep,” recalls Kiernan, “but they still didn’t know what to do with him.”
Amanda Lang, co-anchor of the business/politics show SqueezePlay on Canada’s Business News Network, talks about the different personality traits of the CNN correspondent. “He can tell you the contents of this week’s Economist and Harper’s, but he’d rather be at KFC when he does it,” she says.
