Former CBS, NBC Staffer Safe After Earthquake

By Chris Ariens

Frank Thorp, a former associate producer for CBS News, and his wife Jillian are safe after being evacuated from earthquake-ravaged Haiti. Thorp, who was an AP on “The Early Show” based in Washington, DC, moved to Haiti to be with Jillian who is working on some philanthropic projects.

When the earthquake struck Jillian was at the Haitian headquarters of the mission where she works. She was buried under rubble for several hours.

CBS and NBC, where Thorp also worked, exhausted resources at the Pentagon, State Dept., and Red Cross to get Jillian to safety and get them both out of the country.
