Focus on the Females

By SteveK

Branding them, “the new breed of broadcasters,” Mark Schwed in the Palm Beach Post highlights 13 female news anchors from the cablers who he says are “transforming TV news.”

“But from sunup to sundown, the national anchor desks are dominated by women — highly educated young pros with the gift of gab, who duke it out with pundits, grill candidates, chew over the polls, and size up the races for millions of viewers,” he writes. “And if they show a little leg while doing it, so be it.”

Schwed writes a short bio for each female anchor, with professional and personal info (and, gasp, ages!). The women he focuses on are Martha MacCallum, Gretchen Carlson, E.D. Hill, Jane Skinner, Alisyn Camerota and Megyn Kelly from Fox News Channel, Erica Hill, Robin Meade and Christi Paul from Headline News, Amy Robach and Mika Brzezinski from MSNBC and Heidi Collins and Kiran Chetry from CNN.
