FNC’s Bret Baier Opens Up About His Son’s Heart Disease… On NBC

By Brian Flood

Fox News anchor Bret Baier appeared on NBC’s Today show this morning to discuss his son’s heart disease, moderating the upcoming GOP debate and his new book with Willie Geist and Natalie Morales. Baier’s son was born with five congenital heart defects, requiring complex surgery. Eight years later, Paul Baier is “growing like a weed” and “really booming.”

As for the Republican presidential primary debate in conjunction with the Ohio Republican Party August 6 at 9 p.m. ET, Baier’s challenge is nothing compared to what he went through with his son.

“Our biggest challenge now is not only the questions, but what buzzer we’ll use,” Baier said. “Whether it’s a bell or a buzzer, we get like 300 emails. The last time we used a bell, they said the dogs were racing to the door.”

It should also be noted that 100 percent of the proceeds from Baier’s new book Special Heart go to various non-profit pediatric heart causes. Check it out the interview:
