FNCers Kidnapped In Gaza: The Long Wait

By Brian

“New Zealand diplomats are continuing their attempts to secure the release of a kidnapped New Zealand news cameraman in Gaza,” TVNZ says. “Fox News also has resources in the region to try to secure the mens’ release.”

But the wait is agonizing. Olaf Wiig‘s wife Anita McNaught says: “What bothers us hugely is that it’s taking so long to find out what it is that their captors actually want in return for their release… Kidappings aren’t uncommon in Gaza. They’ve increased in recent months. But what is unusual is not to hear something really quite early on about what the ground rules of the engagement are. That’s what we are all waiting to hear.”

> Also: “McNaught said Palestinian authorities had told her they were confident they could resolve the situation. ‘But in its own time – Gaza time, not in my time or not in New Zealand time or Fox time.'”
