Flight 3407 Crash: Network News Notes

Some notes from the network news coverage of the Flight 3407 crash (and some anonymous tips after the jump):

• ABC’s Good Morning America had Chris Cuomo and David Muir live from Buffalo this morning. Here is one of Cuomo’s reports. Last night, Martin Bashir reported the news on Nightline.



• CBS had Dave Price and Jeff Glor live from Buffalo this morning. Glor will also anchor the Saturday Evening News from the crash site tomorrow. Meg Oliver anchored a special report just before 1amET:



• NBC’s Today show did not have a correspondent on the ground in Buffalo, instead using Catherine Varnum, a reporter for Rochester affiliate WHEC, for reports from the crash site. Mike Taibbi was live from Newark Airport, where the flight took off.

— Who says CBS is dead? The network was first of the big three to break in to programming Friday morning at 12:50, on the deadly plane crash in Buffalo, NY with Meg Oliver anchoring the special report. Coverage soaked the first morning show, Up to the Minute, and live updates kept a’comin….

— CBS FIRST out of big three to break in for plane crash. CBS’ Meg Oliver anchored the Special Report at 12:50 EST. Up to the Minute continued with breaking news overnight for several hours. They also covered the 4 a.m. presser. CBS’ the 4:30 show really seemed to drop the ball though they only had a report from DC on the plane crash. We’ll see if The Early Show picks up the slack.
