Finally, Meredith Vieira’s Susan Boyle Sit-Down

By Chris Ariens

Six weeks after she thought she would be getting a sit-down with Susan Boyle, NBC’s Meredith Vieira finally corralled the Scottish singer yesterday.

The interview will air Wednesday morning on “Today” with an extended version airing, of course, Wednesday night on “America’s Got Talent.”

Boyle crossed the pond via YouTube in the hours after she wowed the crowd on the British talent show in April. A few days later she was singing on CBS’ The Early Show. Boyle’s success also led the Early Show to add judge Amanda Holden to their coverage of the final days of the competition.

But as the media spotlight turned red hot, Boyle began to crack, ultimately finishing second in the competition. She’ll tell Vieira about her journey to international fame, how she’s feeling now and what’s next.

Vieira anchored “Today” from London June 1, the Monday following the “Britain’s Got Talent” finale and was supposed to get an exclusive with Boyle. Instead, Vieira interviewed the winners, the dance group “Diversity.”
