“Failures Add Up” For NBC, Today

An ABC insider responds to the item about Desperate Housewives:

“The Today Show can “position itself” until the cows come home but that won’t ever change the fact that Charlie Gibson and Diane Sawyer are simply the finest journalists on any morning broadcast. GMA’s coverage of the Hurricane and its aftermath set the standard. Anyone who saw GMA’s Town Hall from the Hurricane zone last week knows that. Desperation, it would appear, is a problem the Today Show is familiar with having been battered with months of the very worst press imaginable (see NY Magazine and New Yorker cover stories which all but flayed the skin from Katie’s over priced hide). Staffers at GMA are enjoying the fact that NBC doesn’t have a fall schedule to speak of and are wondering who Katie will blame and Jeff Zucker will fire next to keep the heat off as the failures add up.”
