Evening News Ratings: Week of Nov. 6

By Chris Ariens

With shorter days and darkness setting in before the network evening newscasts take to the air, all three shows increased total viewership last week compared to the same week last year (which was the week of Oct. 31, 2016, a week before clocks were set back last year.)

ABC’s World News Tonight with David Muir saw double digit growth, up +14 percent in viewers and up +10 percent in the demo compared to the same week last year. The ABC newscast has been No. 1 for the first 7 weeks of the season, and last week came within just 7,000 viewers, or .4 percent, of taking the No. 1 spot over NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt.

Holt’s program was up +8 percent in viewers and up +1 percent in the demo, and extends its demo winning streak to 73 weeks.
