Evening News Ratings: Week of June 10

By Chris Ariens

The three evening newscasts finished the week of June 10 in typical fashion with “NBC Nightly News” on top, followed by “ABC World News” and then the “CBS Evening News.”

But in atypical fashion, many of the broadcasts did not count toward the average due to preemptions. NBC’s weekly average is based on just two days (Monday-Tuesday) because of the Stanley Cup finals and U.S. Open. ABC’s weekly average is based on three days (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) due to the NBA Finals. Only CBS’s weekly average is based on five days.

With these preemptions in mind, compared to the same week last year, NBC was up, ABC was down and CBS was split: up in viewers and down in the demo.
