Diane Sawyer is stepping aside from “World News” this month with another sweeps win under her belt. “World News” has now won back-to-back sweeps, May and July, in the A25-54 demo. It’s the first time that’s happened in 7 years. “World News” also had its most-watched July sweep in 7 years. Only “World News” grew year-over-year in the demo: +5%, and was also up +6% among total viewers.
“NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” wins July among total viewers, and was up +1% vs. last July. This is the show’s 28th consecutive sweeps month win in total viewers. “Nightly” was down -9% in the demo. “CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley” also saw mixed results in July: up in viewers (+2%) and down in the demo (-5%). In fact, “Nightly News” and “Evening News” delivered the lowest sweep for any sweep period in the A25-54 demo since at least 1991, when electronic records began.
