Evening News Ratings: Week of July 18

Results were mixed for the evening newscasts this past week. NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt ranked No. 1 across the board, edging ABC World News Tonight by 1 percent and CBS Evening News by 24 percent in total viewers. The NBC broadcast has topped total viewers for four of the last six weeks and ranked No. 1 among A25-54  for 51 of the last 52 weeks. Nightly fell 1 percent in total viewers but improved 1.5 in the news demo compared to the same week in 2015.

ABC World News Tonight with David Muir maintained second place in the key categories this past week. For the 5th week in a row it was up in total viewers compared to the same week in 2015 (+1 percent), and is delivering its highest total viewership in 9 years.  That said, World News is struggling to keep the news demo after a strong 2015, and was down 14 percent from the same week last year.

CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley was slightly up in total viewers (+.4 percent) but down in the news demo (-1 percent) compared to the same week last year.

Holt, Muir and Pelley anchored their respective evening newscasts from Cleveland during the RNC on Monday through Thursday.
