“ABC World News with Diane Sawyer” was the only evening newscast to grow in both total viewers and younger viewers compared to the same week last year.
The ABC News broadcast was up +4% in total viewers and up +5% in younger viewers. “CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley” was up +5% in total viewers but dropped -2% in younger viewers.
Both broadcasts still trail “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” which was down vs. last year: -4%/-11%. ABC got within 161,000 younger viewers of NBC, as close as its been in 7 months. “Nightly” has been No. 1 in younger viewers for 226 of the past 227 weeks.
Due to the State of the Union Address “World News” was retitled and taken out of the average for Tuesday while “Nightly” and “Evening News” are based on all five days.
