A busy news week that was capped by Friday’s tragedy in Newtown, CT sent viewers to the evening newscasts last week boosting the averages of all three programs. A combined average of 24.9 million viewers — the most in three weeks — tuned into the three broadcast network newscasts last week.
“NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” maintained its No. 1 ranking, and was up the most compared to the same week last year in younger viewers: +17%. No. 3 “CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley” was up the most in total viewers: +13% and also up +13% in the younger demo. “ABC World News with Diane Sawyer” was up +7% in viewers and up +8% in the demo.
