eveningnews2015For the first time in seven years, ABC News has won the evening news race among younger viewers for the fourth quarter. In David Muir’s first full quarter as anchor, “World News Tonight” led “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” by just 9,000 viewers, or less than .5%.

The ABC newscast saw the most growth vs. Q4 2013, up +7% in viewers and up +8% in the demo. “CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley” also saw overall growth vs. 2013: up +1% in viewers and up +3% in the demo. “Nightly News” was up +2% in viewers but down -6% in the demo. This was “Nightly’s” best fourth quarter in total viewers in 9 years.

For the holiday-shortened week of Dec. 22, all three newscasts saw growth vs. the same week last year. But the program averages for all three are based only on Monday and Tuesday.
