Evening News Ratings: Week of August 6

By Chris Ariens

“NBC Nightly News” leaves London with gold. During its second week broadcasting from the Summer Games, the Brian Williams newscast was up +9% in total viewers compared to the second week of the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. “Nightly” did see a drop from the first week of the London games when it drew 10.9 million viewers.

No. 2 “World News with Diane Sawyer” trailed by 3 million viewers, but “Nightly’s” week-to-week loss, may have been Sawyer’s gain as ABC grew +5% in the demo.

And while “World News” was down in both measurements compared to the same week last year, the “CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley” grew its viewership (but down slightly in the demo) vs. 2011.
