As Hurricane Isaac washed ashore and the Republican delegates met in Tampa, “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” was the #1 choice for viewers. “Nightly” drew 700,000 more viewers than #2 “ABC World News with Diane Sawyer.”

However, last Tuesday, the first night of the RNC, “World News” was No. 1 in A25-54 viewers, ahead of “Nightly” by 87,000 viewers. “Nightly” still won the week in the demo by 170,000 viewers.

Most improved goes the “CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley” which had the largest Total Viewer (+4%) and younger viewer (+7%) gains compared to the same week last year.

“Evening News” is based on three days: Mon-Wed, because of pre-season football on Thursday and U.S. Open coverage on Friday.
