Evening Newscasts Live From VA, DC Following Congressman Shooting

Fox News’s Special Report with Bret Baier, Hannity, ABC World News Tonight with David Muir, NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, and CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley are among the shows which will broadcast live from Washington DC and northern Virginia tonight in light of this morning’s shooting during a congressional baseball game practice in nearby Alexandria, which wounded Republican House Majority Whip Steve Scalise and four others.

Muir is in DC and will receive an assist on World News Tonight from correspondent David Kerley from the park where the shooting transpired, White House correspondent Cecilia Vega from the White House, senior justice correspondent Pierre Thomas from D.C. and Congressional correspondent Mary Bruce from Capitol Hill.

Holt will anchor Nightly News live from Virginia, and he will interview Sen. Rand Paul who was at the practice. Tom Costello, Pete Williams, Kristen Welker and Peter Alexander will provide reporting.

Tonight’s edition of The CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley has been expanded to one-hour (6:30 – 7:30 p.m. ET). Pelley will be in DC, and the program will include reporting from Margaret Brennan and Major Garrett at the White House; Nancy Cordes on Capitol Hill; Jeff Pegues with the latest on the investigation; plus, Julianna Goldman, Chip Reid, Kris Van Cleave, and Weijia Jiang reporting across Washington, D.C. and Virginia.

This will be Pelley’s third-to-last night as anchor and managing editor of The CBS Evening News. The veteran CBS Newser will focus full time on 60 Minutes. Anthony Mason will take over as CBS Evening News interim anchor next week.
