Evening News Anchors Remain in Orlando for Monday Night

The network evening newscasts will again broadcast from Orlando, as the terror attack at the Pulse nightclub continues to dominate national–and global–news.

NBC News will expand tonight’s Nightly News to one hour, with Lester Holt anchoring from Central Florida. ABC World News Tonight anchor David Muir and CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley will anchor standard 30-minute broadcasts from Orlando.

Comey said there were “strong indications” the killer had been radicalized, but no evidence yet that the terror plot was directed from outside the United States.

Last night, the three evening newscasts had to deal with a typical late afternoon Florida afternoon thunderstorm that rolled through around 6:45. ABC’s World News Tonight was live for the first 15 minutes of the 6:30 p.m. feed, but was forced to use the final 15 minutes of the 6 p.m. feed when the signal went down. CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley turned things over to Elaine Quijano who anchored part of the show from New York. Meanwhile, Lester Holt continued to anchor through the downpour on NBC Nightly News.
