FOX NEWS SIGNS FORMER SENATOR EVAN BAYH TO CONTRIBUTOR ROLE

FOX News has signed former United States Senator Evan Bayh (D-IN) as a contributor, announced Michael Clemente, Senior Vice President of News Editorial for the network. Bayh will offer commentary and analysis across all FOX News platforms and will participate in programming leading up to the 2012 Presidential elections.
In making the announcement, Clemente said, “Senator Bayh’s decades of experience in the political arena and his participation in key decisions in Washington will lend a valuable point of view to the entire FOX News lineup.”

Bayh added, “I’m pleased to offer analysis of public policy and politics to the millions of Americans who get their news from FOX.”

Most recently, Bayh served two terms in the United States Senate until 2011 and was on numerous committees, including: Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs; Armed Services; Energy and Natural Resources; the Select Committee on Intelligence; Small Business and Entrepreneurship; and the Special Committee on Aging. While in office, he led the formation of a political think-tank, The Third Way. He was also the Chairman of the Democratic Leadership Council and formed the Moderate Dems Working Group, a coalition of 17 Senators working to find policy solutions for urgent national issues.

Prior to serving in the Senate, Bayh was Governor of Indiana for two terms, where he oversaw the largest budget surplus and single largest tax cut in state history. Under his leadership, the state created more than 350,000 new jobs and led the nation in moving citizens from welfare to work. He prioritized education, providing more opportunities for low income students and raising academic standards. He also had a successful record enforcing tougher laws on crime and improving the state’s environmental quality. Before the Governorship, Bayh served as Indiana’s Secretary of State from 1986 to 1988.

Currently, Bayh is a senior advisor at asset management firm Apollo Global Management, and a partner at McGuireWoods LLC.
