ESPN Breaks Up Sunday Night Baseball Team Of Jon Miller And Joe Morgan

By Marcus Vanderberg

After 21 years of broadcasting Sunday Night Baseball together, ESPN has decided to break up the announcing team of Jon Miller and Joe Morgan.

Morgan is out after ESPN didn’t renew his contract and Miller has an offer to remain as the radio voice of the Sunday night games.

“We’ve decided to make a change and introduce new voices and new perspective,” said Norby Williamson, an executive vice president at ESPN. “Twenty one years is an eternity in this business. And today is about acknowledging the contributions they made to the franchise.”

Dan Shulman and Orel Hershiser are rumored to replace Miller and Morgan and Bobby Valentine might be the third member in the broadcast booth if he doesn’t get a managing job in the offseason.

Miller is on vacation, which will delay his decision on whether he takes ESPN’s radio offer or increases his workload for the San Francisco Giants, where he’s the lead play-by-play broadcaster.
