ESPN Announces On-Air Assignments For BCS

By Marcus Vanderberg

ESPN will formally announce their on-air assignments for the Bowl Championship Series on Friday, led by veteran play-by-play announcer Brent Musburger, analyst Kirk Herbstreit and sideline reporter Erin Andrews.

The trio will work the national championship game on Jan. 10 along with the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1.

Sean McDonough and Matt Millen (Michigan State fans would have rioted if he worked the Rose Bowl) will call the Fiesta Bowl, also on Jan. 1.

ESPN will tap their Monday Night Football crew of Mike Tirico, Jon Gruden and Ron Jaworski to broadcast the Discover Orange Bowl on Jan. 3.

Brad Nessler and Todd Blackledge will work the Allstate Sugar Bowl on Jan. 4.

This is the first year that ESPN has all five BCS games on cable, and the network is planning to go all out with coverage, including four-hour (!!!!) pregame shows.

Nothing like a pregame show that’s longer than the actual game.
