Endeavour Lifts Off for the Last Time

This morning, at exactly 8:56 AM ET, the Space Shuttle Endeavour lifted off from Cape Canaveral, Florida for the last time. The captain of Endeavour is Mark Kelly, the husband of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who was shot earlier this year.

The launch was originally scheduled for April 29, but was delayed due to am engineering issue.

The timing of the launch was perfect for the broadcast networks. ABC and CBS used the launch to end their morning shows, “Good Morning America” and “The Early Show,” while NBC used it to transition from the 2nd hour to the 3rd hour of “Today:
