Elizabeth Kaledin “Heartbroken” By CBS

When Katie Couric brought her personal “colonoscopy booker” Jonathan LaPook to CBS this summer, the network pushed longtime medical correspondent Elizabeth Kaledin out the door. Now, for the first time, Kaledin is speaking out. She tells the Observer’s Rebecca Dana:

“I am heartbroken by the loss of my job and have spent 20 years working to get to this point, only to be replaced by someone with no journalistic experience only because he’s a doctor. I have worked incredibly hard from the smallest markets in TV to get to this point. I have never pissed anybody off. My reporting career is unblemished. I’m well-liked. I work hard. I’ve been loyal to CBS.”

Dana says Kaledin’s contract “will not be renewed when it expires at the end of this year, according to three network sources. Between now and then, she will contribute to CBS News Sunday Morning…”
