Please join me in welcoming Ed Meagher as the new Weekend Programming Manager. He comes to us from CNN International, where he currently serves as Senior Supervising Producer. In that role, he oversaw the network’s global coverage of the U.S. election for our overseas audience – both in the newsroom and on the ground at the Republican and Democratic conventions and the debates. Working closely with our Hong Kong bureau, Ed launched CNNI’s CNN Today with Michael Holmes and Amara Walker, a fast-paced morning show covering stories like the pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong, Brexit, and the terror attack in Nice, France.

Ed joined the network in 2007 and has worked across our Atlanta, New York, and Washington bureaus. He was part of the team that launched The Lead with Jake Tapper in the run up to the race for the White House where he honed his keen political instincts. Before that, he served as interim-EP for Newsroom International amid the fallout of the Arab Spring, wrote and produced for CNN Newsroom, and served as anchor producer for Campbell Brown covering the 2008 election. He got his start with the network at American Morning, in the throes of the global financial crisis.

He is a graduate of McGill University in Montreal, and earned his Master’s degree at Fordham University in New York.

Ed begins his new role at the end of the month.
