Does President Obama Watch ‘Fox News Sunday’?

In his Wednesday press conference, President Obama cited “some Republican commentators” who have indicated the party should consider a tax hike on the wealthy. The Wall Street Journal‘s Jason Riley connects the dots from Obama’s answer to Fox News contributor Bill Kristol, noting that “President Obama won’t agree to be interviewed on ‘Fox News Sunday,’ but he apparently watches the show”:

The president also noted that there’s support even among conservative pundits for hiking taxes on the rich. “As we’ve heard from some Republican commentators, a modest increase in taxes on the wealthy is not going to break their back,” said Mr. Obama.

That may have been a reference to recent remarks by Bill Kristol, a former GOP strategist and “Fox News Sunday” regular. “It won’t kill the country if Republicans raise taxes a little bit on millionaires,” Mr. Kristol said on Sunday. “It really won’t, I don’t think.”

“Fox News Sunday” host Chris Wallace has been vocal about Obama’s long-standing invitation to appear on the program, which he has not done since 2008. He has not appeared on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” CBS’ “Face the Nation” or ABC’s “This Week” since 2009.
