Did You Hear There’s Another TV Show Set At the White House?

By Chris Ariens

There was “West Wing” on NBC and the short-lived “Commander-in-Chief” — with Gina Davis as the commander-in-chief — on ABC. Now there are plans for another White House-themed TV show. This time a comedy.

Hold your laughter.

It was announced a few weeks ago that NBC was working on a pilot called “1600 Penn”, which TVLine describes as a “Washington D.C.-set comedy about a dysfunctional family that just happens to reside at the most famous address in the United States.” (Sounds like “Modern Family” but at the White House.)

Bill Pullman, who played the president on “Independence Day,” is POTUS in this version and today TVLine reveals Jenna Elfman will play the first lady.

We could know by May, when NBC holds its upfronts, whether 1600 Penn will make the Fall line-up.
