Diane Sawyer Reports on ‘Generation Meds’

By Chris Ariens

Following a year-long investigation ABC “World News” anchor Diane Sawyer and correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi report on foster children who are being prescribed mind-altering drugs at alarming rates — up to 13 times higher than that of other children. The first report called “Generation Meds” airs tonight on “World News” and will conclude with a “20/20” special this Friday.

This is the third series of reports from Sawyer on the foster care system. Sawyer’s first report, “For the Sake of the Children,” aired on “Primetime” in 2002. The second “Primetime” report, “Calling All Angels,” aired in 2006 and was recognized with the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award.
