Diane Sawyer anchored “World News” from Chicago last night and was a part of the “Surprise Oprah! A Farewell Spectacular,” at Chicago’s United Center.
The two-show taping was a tribute to the departing daytime host and featured some of the biggest names in television and entertainment, including Maria Shriver. The shows will air May 23 and May 24. Oprah’s final show is Wednesday, May 25.
Oprah Winfrey has been credited with giving a boost to ABC “World News” over the years as the show airs as a powerful late afternoon lead-in on many ABC stations.
