Diane Sawyer “Needs To Be Wanted”

David Westin would only contribute one comment to David Blum‘s piece. Guess what it’s about?

“From the first moment Peter Jennings became sick, Diane offered to do whatever she could to help. But she regards her responsibility to GMA as the most important part of her job.”

Blum says Westin’s “intense and personal relationship” with Diane Sawyer is the most important one he has at ABC News. He recalls the buzz about Sawyer’s (disavowed) interest in the anchor chair, and quotes an “old confidant” of Sawyer’s:

“Does she know what she wants? Not a clue. Does she need to be wanted? By everyone, constantly.”
